Tips for learning English

It used to be a kind of Podcast, but now...

Welcome to the second episode of ‘Let’s speak English’. Today I’m going to give you some tips for learning English.
Start learning English from listening to native speakers. You don’t have to go to English speaking country to do this. Use the Internet!
If you’re a beginner you can start with Podcasts. They’re quite easy to understand. You can chose from variety of Podcasts. I recommend starting with those by British Council. The best I’ve found is available on www.learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts. Additionally there is a transcription and listening task.
The next step is another Podcast, this time a bit more difficult, Luke’s English Podcast. Luke’s an English teacher from London. He’s really funny and intelligent, so are his Podcasts. He covers many topics, so you can easily build your vocabulary.
Simultaneously  you should read graded readers, simple books for English learners.
Now it’s getting harder. We can move to films without subtitles and radio programs. The best you can do is to listen to BBC. It’s really difficult at first, but it’s getting easier as days go by.
I still enjoy listening to Adam And Joe Show on BBC 6 Music. I used to listen to them over and over again One of my favourite Podcast is “Read it and Weep”- it’s about films and books. From time to time I listen to ‘Woman’s hour’ on BBC 4.  I find it a little bit to serious (it’s really interesting though).
While listening you should take some notes- new vocabulary, sentences, grammar. Then look it all up in you dictionary. Keep a notebook with useful words and expressions.
It’s high time you started reading. You can kick-off with reading blogs, short articles and stories. Then move to graded readers and books.
Remember to write down all new words and expressions! I usually use the last page of a book to do this.
Talk to yourself. Explain something; talk about your day and feelings; give ‘interviews’.
Keep a diary in English!
And HAVE FUN!
